Initial setup. 1 has the ball at the top, 5 on the left wing.
DESCRIPTION
Possession is switched from one wing to the other, then the new wide player crosses immediately while the opposition is still recovering. Drills speed of attack from switched play.
COACHING POINTS
• Switch must travel fast and accurate — driven, not floated
• Receiving winger takes a positive first touch toward the byline
• Don\'t pause — cross immediately, defenders are still shifting
• Cross delivery target depends on the runners arriving
• 'Early cross' often better than working to the byline
Progression: add defenders shifting across. Cross must beat the first defender on the back-post side.
Regression: no defenders, players walk the switch and cross.
